Introducing LILEE – the Little Interface for Lab Equipment Efficiency

LILEE is a low-cost device, designed to facilitate booking, sharing, and efficient management of lab equipment.

LILEE can be placed alongside selected pieces of lab equipment. Simply swipe your staff card to login and book that piece of equipment using the interactive touch screen.

LILEE bookings are synchronised to an central booking system, and can be viewed online at enhance.inf.ed.ac.uk/lilee (an account is created when you first use any LILEE device).

A Co-Designed Innovation for Energy Efficient Laboratories

LILEE has been designed as part of a collaboration between the Roslin Institute and the Enhance Project at the University of Edinburgh. The device is the result a series of workshops held throughout 2017, where staff from the Roslin Institute engaged with researchers and designers from the School of Informatics and Edinburgh College of Art to explore innovative approaches to reducing energy consumption in the labs. The functionality and design of LILEE will continue to be developed and tweaked as we gain feedback on its use in the labs.
